Note to a cunning professor
In years following the online publication of the original David Johnson circuit, engineering chat rooms filled up with cries of desperate students begging for help in understanding the theoretical background of the device - it seems that a smart professor picked it as a handy test for probing students’ true understanding of electromagnetism and digital electronics... It would be interesting to hear how many of them have actually passed it as reading between the lines of their writings did not seem to justify giving them much hope...
Now, we understand that the enhanced version of the circuit presented here provides even more opportunities for teasing unfortunate hard working undergraduates. In the name of our future colleagues, we urge the respectable authority not to do so and remind once more that although it is truth that the aim of designing the device was to keep beer supplies high, it is expected do so by preventing thefts from penetrating the valuable refrigerator space, not by forcing generations of engineers to come to spend sleepless nights above the book. We can therefore accept no responsibility of causing any damage to social life and self-esteem of young brainiacs and apologize for any possible misuse of the design by academic third parties in the future.
