Sky Mixer housing partially completed Actual housing is in fact two times smaller than what was originally planed because of supply chain interruptions that followed the COVID-19 crisis. Two momentary push buttons are placed on the outside of the housing top surface so that they cannot be crunched in by a careless strong user. Three pots for adjusting mixing levels are put on the top side of the device as well, while low-cut filter pot is on the back side because it is used very rarely. A humongous "Local music volume" button on the front face could without problems have been twice as small as it is, but this way it puts a nice artistic touch to the outlook.
Because of the button this gym device looks a bit buff :)
Sky Mixer housing back view Back side of the device is quite crammed with all sorts of connectors. Power On/Off switch is to the far left. Next to it is USB type-A connector that can provide 5V power supply to a BlueTooth TRx module. Above it is a pair of Input/Output 3.5mm stereo connectors that can be used to feed music into and streaming mix out of the console (using the BlueTooth TRx module or cables). Streaming mix out is line level; if a dedicated coax cable with built-in attenuator depicted in the main circuit diagram is connected to it, streaming mix signal can be connected to a smart phone or laptop. Next to that are two pairs of cinch connectors for music in and local mix out line level signals. Finally on the right part of the back panel trehe is a mic input 6.3 mm mono connector and a single cinch with 1.5 V power supply for RF mic receiver module. Above that pair sits the low-cut mic input filter pot.
Sky Mixer housing front view Finished console has some markings on it written by hand using black acrylic paint. This does feel a bit rustic but hey, gym and fitness enthusiasts don't mind it at all. After all, those people are playfull by their nature and Sky Gym is known for its warm and easy going atmosphere. Going there after a week or so of pause feels more like comming home from a long trip than going to a typical commercial gym, and the author of this article is not alone in that conclusion.
